통나무를 자르면 나타나는 나이태의 자연스러운 멋짐과, 부드럽게 휘어졌다가 스냅처럼 튀어오르는 탄성력이 매력적이다라고 볼수 있습니다.
나뭇결에서의 모아레 무늬는 나무를 자르는 방식과 각도, 나뭇결 패턴이 상호작용하며 나타나는 자연스러운 무늬를 지칭할 때 사용합니다.
이 무늬는 인간의 지문처럼 나무의 정체성을 담아내고 있습니다.
천연 나뭇결 위에 또 다른 나뭇결 무늬를 인쇄해 진짜와 가짜를 섞어 독특한 조화를 만들어내는 과정를 해보았습니다.
이건 재미요소를 더했다랄까.
어두운 나뭇결의 패턴은 자연스럽고 따뜻한 호박색을 띤 단풍나무의 표면 위에 겹쳐, 나뭇결의 아름다움을 한층 돋보이게 했습니다.
We love wood, the way it flexes underfoot and springs back with a snap, and we dig the grain patterns that form when you slice a ringed log into flat sheets. This moire pattern is like the thumbprint of a tree, its encoded identity. It also makes us laugh when we consider that we’re printing wood grain ontop of natural grain, creating faux/real mashup. This dark wooden simulacra highlights the beautiful patterning of grain as a bold image layered atop the warm amber tone of clear maple.
